Purveyers of grindcore insanity from Albany, New York, D.B. Cooper burst onto the scene in 2021 with their debut EP “The Crisis Years.” From mathy, disorienting riffing a la The Dillinger Escape plan, to primus-esque bass groves, The Crisis Years covers a lot of sonic territory over the 5 song release. Despite the band’s playful, often jokey demeanor live and online, The Crisis Years is packed with existential lyrical dread, following themes of suicide, and mental duress. Dark themes aside, the band’s persona often revolves around the eponymous D.B. Cooper, the unidentified man who hijacked a plane in 1971 and demanded a ransom. The band often performs with a large tan banner with the phrase “get high and steal” spray painted across it.

The Crisis Years is available on 10” lathe cut vinyl
