Formed early 2019, in the moldy, perpetually flooded basement of a tattoo studio in Richmond, VA, Terror Cell forged a dark, brooding, yet relentlessly aggressive sound that would see light early 2020 via the band’s first EP “Last Day of Sun.” This 6 song release has the band dipping their toes into doom, sludge, noise rock, and even post-metal at times while staying solidly rooted in hardcore. Last Day of Sun as Well as the band’s split with Iron Price that would follow the year later, demonstrate lyrical themes of the systemic shortcomings of capitalism, threats of nuclear war, and fighting back against socio-political systems put in place to maintain the status-quo.

On the band’s latest release “Caustic Light” (2022), Terror Cell find themselves pushing further into more ambient territory and evoking more post-metal characteristics as well as incorporating more personal lyrical themes around isolation, loss, and depression. Despite conjuring such dark material, the band continues to regularly organize and support local and national non-profits and community resources, and generally convey a message of hope with live performances, putting great emphasis on community.
